MAINTENANCE ELECTRICIAN

INTRODUCTION:

Grinding Techniques (Pty) Ltd is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Electrician to join our dynamic maintenance team. As a well-established manufacturer in the abrasive industry, we pride ourselves on maintaining high standards in safety, efficiency, and production reliability. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the optimal performance of our electrical systems and production equipment through proactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

  • Install, maintain and repair electrical control, wiring, electrical reticulation, distribution boards, and lighting systems.
  • Conduct fault finding and troubleshooting of electrical control systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance inspections and tests on portable electrical equipment, electrical control, electrical reticulation and distribution systems, and substations to ensure compliance with safety and legal standards.
  • Conduct electrical upgrades, new installations, and improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems as needed.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and electrical systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to maximize machinery efficiency and performance.
  • Adhere to best engineering practices.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with the EIR, EMR, SANS 10142-1 and relevant standards, and issue Certificates of Compliance (CoC) where applicable.
  • Comply with company health and safety rules and the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act.
  • Perform various tasks as per job cards issued by the maintenance manager / supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and replacements, and provide detailed reports.
  • Be available to perform standby duties and work night shifts as required by operational needs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 3 years post-trade experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or FMCG environment.
  • Qualified Electrician with a valid Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal) recognized by the Department of Higher Education and Training.
  • Grade 12 / N3 Certificate or NQF Level 4 in Electrical Engineering.
  • Wireman’s license (Installation Electrician) – registered, in the process of registering, or willing to obtain.
  • Practical experience as an Installation Electrician in commercial or industrial environments.
  • Proficient in diagnosing faults on electrical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot under pressure during breakdowns.
  • Skilled in using workshop machinery (drill press, welding, and cutting tools).
  • Skilled in using hand tools and electrical measuring instruments to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical engineering drawings.
  • Basic understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Sound knowledge of electrical control systems.
  • Knowledge of VSDs, PLCs and instrumentation.
  • Basic mechanical, pneumatics, and hydraulics system knowledge.
  • Good understanding of SANS 10142-1, EIR and EMR.
  • Attention to detail and high-quality workmanship.

    INTERNAL SALES CORRESPONDENT – CAPE TOWN

    INTRODUCTION:

    Grinding Techniques Pty Ltd is looking for a motivated and well-spoken Internal Sales Correspondent
    to join our sales team at our branch in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. The Internal Sales Correspondent
    will be responsible for taking and processing customer orders, whilst developing new leads, communicating
    with customers, understanding their needs, and ensuring a smooth sales process. You should be able to
    close sales and meet targets.

    INTERESTED APPLICANTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO DO THE FOLLOWING:

    • Customer liaison with walk-in and phone-in customers
    • Making outbound calls to potential customers and following up on leads.
    • Processing of Quotes, Sales Orders and Picking Slips daily.
    • Answering all incoming customer calls and processing orders on Microsoft Dynamic Business Central.
    • Assist customers with technical product enquiries.
    • Understanding customers’ needs and identifying sales opportunities.
    • Answering potential customers’ questions and sending additional information per email.
    • Providing up to date quotations
    • Liaising with stores to ensure stock availability and replenishment
    • Assist with picking slips
    • Keeping up with product and service information and updates.

    • Staying informed about competing products and services.
    • Upselling products and services. (Telesales)
    • Researching and qualifying new leads.

    • Assist with quarterly and year end stock counts when required. These are normally conducted over weekend.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    The successful applicant must have:

    • At least a Grade 12 / 3 YEARS Previous experience in an outbound call centre or a related sales position preferred.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Intermediate
    • Navision / Microsoft Dynamics Business Central (Advantageous)
    • 60 to 80wpm Accurate Touch Typing Speed

      PROCESS ENGINEER

      INTRODUCTION:

      Grinding Techniques Pty Ltd is looking for a Process Engineer to support, develop, manage, and analyse production processes in accordance with internal/external best practices and standards. Coordinate ISO compliance through strict QC gates.

      • Maintaining Process flow charts, processes and procedure through ISO approve method.

      MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

      • Minimum: Engineering qualification diploma [N.Dip] in Metallurgical Engineering (preferred) equivalent or.
      • Mechanical Engineering (with relevant post-graduate experience).
      • At least 5 years post-graduate experience in foundry, abrasive, phenolics or industrial grinding.
      • Compounding and formulations for Phenolics, Ceramics and the like.

        Technical Sales Representative EAST RAND

        INTRODUCTION:

        A Vacancy exists for Experienced Entrepreneurial Dynamic Sales Representatives to grow sales and manage existing customers in predetermined parts of East Rand for Grinding Techniques, a well-known manufacturer of abrasives products and part of the Tyrolit group
        of companies.

        INTERESTED APPLICANTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO:

        • Research, develop, manage and drive implementation of account plans in order to maximise current business and the development of new business opportunities and growth. These plans should contribute directly to the Grinding Techniques Sales Plan.
        • Take full accountability for the achievement of revenue streams, profitability and volume growth and other key performance areas/indicators for direct accounts in the portfolio.
        • Responsible for effective negotiation, management and administration of contractual obligations, pricing and other administrative requirements of accounts in portfolio. Seek opportunities to reduce the cost of doing business with customers and for development of sustainable partnerships.
        • Minimising and management of potential channel conflict, with the ultimate goal of eliminating conflict in this channel.
        • Develop processes to measure, track, report and communicate account performance in order to ensure specific focus, and utilising these processes to monitor trends, achievements and performance against targets.
        • Develop reporting and monitoring mechanisms highlighting, both local and international, activities, highlighting market movements to Sales and Management.
        • Perform cost-benefit and needs analysis on existing and potential customers as part of the sales process.
        • Conduct cold calling at new/potential customers along with a focused growth strategy at the existing customers in the allocated sales area.
        • Analyse market potentials, track sales and status reports.
        • Meet and exceed sales budgets (volume & revenue).
        • Actively manage the debtor’s book for the allocated sales portfolios.
        • Establish, promote and maintain positive business and customer relationships.
        • Ensure adherence to company policy and procedures.
        • Servicing and further development of existing customer base.
        • Participation/representation at open days/trade shows with the ability to conduct physical product demonstrations.
        • Comply with the company’s planning, reporting and customer management structures as determined by management.

        • Assisting with the Annual Stock Stake which may be conducted over a weekend.
        • Where applicable, ensuring that stock and expenditure is controlled within agreed limits and that procedures are adhered to.

        • General Housekeeping and Administration associated with the position and work space.

        MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

        The successful applicant must have:

        • A Technical Qualification and/or 5-7 years proven sales experience in a technical field
        • Must have a valid driver’s licence
        • Must be willing to travel.
        • Knowledge of the abrasive industry would be an advantage.
